Pico Duarte - Climbing High

3:44:00 PM

Because sometimes you have to go extreme, a climb to the highest peak of the Caribbean, Pico Duarte @ Dominican Republic was exactly what I needed.

The paths are diverse some as narrow and other are open fields like this one.

It was one of the best experiences of my life (Navrioska POV). A 3 days walking muddy, uncomfortable and beautiful path. Feeling thirst and drinking water straight from the river, cooking on wood and sleeping on camping tents and being so cold that you I needed a pile of friends to warm up.

The unknown people that did the trip with me became good friends and some are right now like family.

To enjoy this breathtaking landscape my recommendation is mentally and physical preparation months before the trip, to condition your body and to make your life easier the right wear. I could imagine my journey without my boots. I wore woman hiking Timberland, they were comfortable and on point to the all the irregular roads.

If you like hiking this is a must, getting to the top requires determination but the most important thing of all is putting your heart on every step that's what keep you going when your body can't. An for the sunsets is all worth it.

Below is a selfie with me and Duarte at the highest point of the trip. You can see I was happy.

"How pretty you are in the top my dear Dominican flag"
